Libre Wines is an importer and distributor of natural & biodynamic wines based in the Netherlands. We import all of our wines directly from small artisanal winegrowers. We showcase wines made from grapes and grapes only, sourced from vineyards that live in harmony with their environment. Our goal is to aid in the discovery of these wines and the revelation of each wines personality and representation of terroir.
Bastian Wolber
Bastian Wolber was born in Germany, it was in France that he cut his teeth. Working with Jean-Marc Dreyer, Rudolf and Rita Trossen, Jean-Yves Bizot and Jean-François Ganevat, among others, Bastian was able to observe, understand and experiment. After that, he decided to return to Germany to make his own wine at his brother's Wasenhaus estate. We meet Bastian Wolber at a joint tasting at the winery he then shares with Jon Purcell (Vin Noé), Dandelion and Chris Santini. It was in this Auxey-Duresses cellar, one winter evening in 2020, that we discovered his first wines: Gamay, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It was love at first sight, and we were soon convinced that we were meeting one of the most promising young winemakers in Burgundy. He later moved to Volnay to be able to work as he saw fit. Since 2022, Bastian has been devoting himself full-time to his winegrowing activity, gradually recovering a few Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines, both on lease and on the merchant market. For the 2022 and 2023 vintages, he will be offering a number of cuvées from vineyards in Côte de Nuits, Côte Chalonnaise and other beautiful parts of Burgundy. Bastian's work combines precision with good old drinkability and class.
